Soterna Neutral Line
Premium add-onAn independent reporting line that covers your duty of care, even where the internal route stalls.
The Soterna Neutral Line is an independent, external reporting line and first advice line, entirely outside your organisation’s hierarchy: employees speak with a person, even when a matter touches management, HR or the executive team itself. What is discussed there stays there, unless the employee chooses to pass it on.
What it is and what it deliberately is not
Three principles that allow this line to hold up legally and morally
Human and independent
Trained, independent professionals who listen, organise and explore options. They are entirely separate from the employer and have no interest in any particular outcome.
No AI chat
Vulnerable situations call for human contact. The Neutral Line is deliberately not a chatbot and not automated triage: every report gets a person on the line.
No internal HR route
The Neutral Line does not report to HR, managers or the board. No file is created within the organisation and no one internally sees who made contact.
When to use it
For the situations where your internal reporting line is not quite enough
The independent reporting line does not replace your internal reporting line and confidential adviser, but complements them. Precisely in the places with the highest barrier, where unsafe situations otherwise stay quiet and only later become a governance problem.
- The matter touches management, HR or the executive team itself
- The employee is unsure whether the situation is 'serious enough' to report
- Earlier internal signals did not feel safe or went without follow-up
- A small organisation or small team where anonymity is practically difficult
- The employee wants to think it through neutrally first before anything is recorded
Handover with consent
How a conversation can reach the organisation after all
Nothing leaves the Neutral Line without the employee's explicit consent. Handover is a deliberate choice, not an automatic step, and always proceeds in a controlled way.
Confidential conversation
The employee discusses the situation with an independent professional. Nothing is shared with the employer.
Exploring options
Together they explore possible routes: resolving it themselves, the confidential adviser, a formal report or doing nothing (for now).
Explicit consent
If the employee opts for handover, they decide what is shared, with whom and in what form. This is recorded with informed consent via the Privacy Coach.
Warm handover
The case lands with the right, independent handler in Soterna, with Conflict of Interest Routing and the agreed scope.
A safeguard you deliberately invest in
The Neutral Line is available as an add-on with Soterna Trust and Soterna Enterprise. This ensures the line retains sufficient capacity and quality for the organisations that rely on it.
